According to Paracelsus, "the sumum of theological and philosophical truths is contained in the religion of the two lights, the light of grace and the light of nature". We have wanted to follow the lessons of this Renaissance genius, and to order the principles, the grace or mystic and the nature of chemistry.

Stone

"Hence it was that the philosophers called their stone , or if it be lawful for me to reveal that which the devil out of envy would not discover, I say they called it a stone , to the end that no man might know what it was they called so. For there is nothing in the world so remote from the complexion of a stone , for it is water and no stone ". (T. Vaughan, Aula Lucis)

Pythagoras, in his Fourth Table, says 'How wonderful is that the accord between the wise in the midst of differences!' All of them say that they have prepared the Stone out of a substance that populace considers the vilest thing on earth. In effect, if we were to tell the masses the ordinary name of our substance, thought would consider our affirmation to be an insolent lie. But if they were to know its virtue and efficacy, they would no deprecate what is in reality, the most valuable thing in the world. God has hidden this mystery from the insensate, the ignorant, the malicious, and the proud so that they may not use it with bad intentions". (Anonymous, The Glory of the World or Finis Gloriae Mundi)

"When one speaks of the Tao to an inferior man, he bursts into laughter. If he were not to laugh, it would not be the Tao." ( Tao Te Ching)

"We give you the crowning stone that completes the holy edifice, and its light shall illuminate the nations, for the foundation stone is like the summit stone , and the summit stone is like the foundation stone in the unity of the One" ( L. Cattiaux, The Message Rediscovered 26, 47)

"Its father is the Sun, its mother is the Moon. The wind carried it in its womb, the earth breast fed it. It is the father of all, the Telesma of all in the world. Its strength and its power is complete, if cast to earth. Separate thou ye earth from ye fire, ye subtile from the gross sweetly with great industry. It ascends from ye earth to ye heaven and again it descends to ye earth and receives ye force of things superior and inferior. By this means you shall have ye glory of ye whole world and thereby all obscurity shall fly from you. Its force is above all force. For it vanquishes every subtile thing and penetrates every solid thing. So was ye world created. From this are and do come admirable adaptations whereof ye means is here in this". ( The Emerald Tablet of Hermes)
