According to Paracelsus, "the sumum of theological and philosophical truths is contained in the religion of the two lights, the light of grace and the light of nature". We have wanted to follow the lessons of this Renaissance genius, and to order the principles, the grace or mystic and the nature of chemistry.

Chaos

"Chaos was an agitated compound of water and vivifying fire, so that all the things of this world were produced by the eternal Verb of God". (The Cosmopolite, Philosophical Letter )

"Before the beginning, everything lay in the repose of the hard darkness of death. Fire on awakening in the water, ordered the chaos the four elements engendered the living spirit of the universe". (L. Cattiaux, The Message Rediscovered 4, 25')

" 'In the beginning', or according to the Jerusalem Targum, ' in wisdom ', ' God made the water and the earth . And the earth was without form and void; and was darkness upon the face of the deep. ' (Genesis 1, 1 and following) Here you should observe that God created two principles, earth and water, and of these two He compounded a third, namely the sperm or chaos . Upon the water, or moist part of this sperm, the Spirit of God did move". (Thomas Vaughan, Lumen de Lumine )

"The life of the sage comes out of the death of the saint just as the life of the butterfly comes out of the death of the caterpillar, which becomes a chrysalis, and then, a miracle of resurrection. Likewise our lives shall come out of the chaos of the dark dissolution, where the divine mystery of God's creation is renewed. Let those know how to reflect look into this dark mirror!" (L. Cattiaux, The Message Rediscovered 25, 27)
